ARVIGO MAYA ABDOMINAL THERAPY, FERTILITY MASSAGE AND SPIRITUAL HEALING

MAYA ABDOMINAL THERAPY

The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy™ are founded on the ancient Mayan technique of abdominal massage which is an external non invasive massage addressing organ position and function by increasing flow of blood, lymph, nerve and chi. The massage removes congestion and breaks down scar tissue, aiding optimal organ function.

“A sense of knowing is held deep within us.  Allowing the space and time to connect and heal our inner world can be a direct line to our psyche, and a sense of connection to our ancestors and lineage if we seek that. Using the traditional techniques of abdominal massage, womb steaming, castor oil packs and plant medicine used with spiritual and physical intention can shift suffering - physical and emotional.  A sense of peace, belonging, understanding, knowledge, wisdom, wildness, passion and joy can be accessed.”

Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Massage

Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Massage Therapy lifts and guides the uterus, which is held in place by 10 ligaments, into optimum position.  External specific abdominal massage techniques support flow:

  • Circulation to the uterus and ovaries (blood)

  • Encourage lymphatic clearance of waste and congestion (lymph)

  • Energy (Mayan Chuel, Chi)

  • The techniques also consider the ligaments that hold the uterus in place, thereby supporting uterine position.

  • When the uterus is displaced …painful periods, dark menstrual blood, lower back pain, varicose veins, weak or numb legs may be experienced.

More serious problems may occur with: difficulty conceiving, recurrent miscarriages, painful intercourse, menstrual cycle regularity, reproductive conditions (PCOS, endometriosis, fibroids, adenomyosis), digestive symptoms, abdominal and pelvic pain, urogenital pain, frequent urination, infections and discomfort…..to name a few.

What causes a displaced uterus:

  • Injury, a fall, car accident, horse, bike,

  • Pelvic ligaments that have been over stretched and not given time to heal - pregnancy and birth

  • High impact exercise on hard surfaces

  • Lifting and carry heavy objects during menstruation or too soon after birth

  • Time and gravity with no or little exercise and movement, poor posture (at desk)

  • Past surgeries

  • Chronic back pain and muscle spasm

  • Emotional armoring and trauma

BENEFITS FOR WOMEN

A well-aligned uterus leans slightly over the bladder in the center of the pelvis, about one and a half inches above the pubic bone. It is held in this position by muscles, the vaginal wall and ligaments that attach it to the back, front, and sides of the pelvis. Uterine ligaments are made to stretch to accommodate a growing fetus inside and to move freely when the bladder or bowel is full. The ligaments and muscles can weaken and loosen, displacing the uterus caused by any of the reasons listed above. The uterus may fall downward, forward, backward or to either side

A uterus in any of these positions is called tilted or prolapsed, and cause physical symptoms.

Unfortunately modern medicine has little or nothing to offer women with a tilted or prolapsed uterus. When presented with the physical symptoms options may include using the birth control pill, muscle relaxants, even antidepressants, even severe surgery may be recommended. Despite the long list of intense physical and emotional symptoms women present with, we are often told ‘it is normal’, there is nothing wrong with you’ or ‘a tilted uterus is normal and won’t be causing your symptoms’. These simple external massage techniques can address, reduce and prevent these symptoms.

Normal flow of blood and lymph may be restricted, nerve connections disrupted when reproductive organs shift. A few extra ounces sitting on blood and lymph vessels can cause havoc throughout the different systems in the body. By shifting the uterus back into place, homeostasis, or the natural balance of the body, is restored in the pelvic area and the surrounding organs. Toxins are flushed and nutrients that help to tone tissue and balance hormones are restored to normal order. This is essential for healthy pregnancy, labor, and delivery. Old adhesions from invasive treatments to the pelvic and abdominal area, including fibroid tumors, endometriosis, and cesarean delivery are diminished when addressed by uterine massage. In addition, digestion, urinary and bladder problems can be helped.

Note: Uterine Massage is not performed:

  • During menstrual bleeding

  • Within the first 6 weeks following a normal vaginal delivery or the first 3 months after a c-section, abdominal surgery, or laproscopy

  • For a woman using an IUD for birth control, (caution must be used if ‘mesh’ surgery)

  • If cancer is present or suspected anywhere in the pelvis, or the client is undergoing chemotherapy for this condition

  • During the first trimester of pregnancy

  • [W:Hiatal Hernia] – gentle touch only

Womb Steams

Womb Steams are a traditional herbal treatment prepared for women. A womb steam provides direct access to the womb - warming and lifting.

In a womb steam wisdom session you can expect a herbal blend created for your specific needs or current ailments. The experience is created for you and you are left to enjoy this with yourself. The treatment is private.

After a woman experiences the womb steam she is generally more confident to create the experience for herself in the comfort of her own home with the knowledge and support we bring.

Cultural Importance

Over the millenia cultures around the world have had their own techniques to support the women of their villages and tribes - usually women supporting women. Whether it be the transit of time, persecution, or modern day mindset that we know better, much of this knowledge has been lost for many cultures. But an awakening to this ancient wisdom is now being yearned for.

It is therefore that I have great gratitude that this knowledge is now shared. That I have been able to learn these techniques and offer the traditional Mayan therapies to continue healing and holding space for those that need the support.

Based on over thirty years of training and experience in massage, naprapathy, herbology, and spiritual healing, Dr. Rosita Arvigo developed these techniques which now bear her name. This modality incorporates a holistic approach to health care which includes massage, anatomy and physiology, herbology, nutrition, and emotional and spiritual healing. Dr. Arvigo believes that with any natural healing technique, these areas must be simultaneously addressed to promote optimal health.

Dr. Arvigo learned these techniques from her mentor, Don Elijio Panti, the great Maya Shaman of Belize, Central America with whom she apprenticed for ten years. Don Elijio believed that a woman's center is her uterus. "If a woman's uterus is out of balance, so is she," he would say. Midwives and healers of Central America agree that most female troubles are caused by the wandering womb. Don Elijio passed away in 1996 at the age of 103. Rosita also studied with Hortence Robinson, a 73 year old herbal midwife of Belize who has been delivering babies since she was 13.
