Frequently Asked Questions

When do you need a Naturopathic Consult in the “clinic” as opposed to dispensary “acute care” in the Apothecary?

A naturopathic clinic consult allows the time for the clinician to get to know you, learn your health history and uncover factors and triggers that are influencing your current state of health.

You may be required to complete questionnaires, undergo pathology and in-clinic testing and a personalised treatment plan and program will be recommended for you based on findings.

This will involve prescribed herbal and nutritional medicines, diet and lifestyle guidelines. This same level of care cannot be achieved in a 15 min acute consult. But an acute consult allows resolution of an acute condition.

A naturopathic consult in clinic is advised for such conditions as:

  • If you never seem to shake that cold or virus, or the cold season is inbound and you know you are going to spend a lot of it unwell.

  • If you have been feeling stressed out and overwhelmed for some time and now your sleep, energy and mental well being is affected.

  • If you have been diagnosed with a female reproductive disorder such as PCOS, fibroids, endometriosis that indicates there has been longstanding hormonal disruption.

  • If you desire to make some long standing dietary and lifestyle changes.

  • If you have been medically diagnosed with a new health condition and would like to discuss the possibility of other alternatives.

  • You are thinking of starting a family.

What is an acute consult?

Short and sharp, 15mins, let’s ease that symptom that you are feeling right now, such as a sore throat or a case of thrush. A naturopath will assess your presenting condition and determine the best treatment approach with recommended herbal medicine or tea, nutritional supplement or lifestyle and dietary guideline.

An acute consult will be conducted in the apothecary with the dispensary available for prescription of natural medicines. Under the requirement of TGA (Therapeutic Goods Act) it is a requirement that a consult be undertaken and records kept before the professional prescribing of herbal or nutritional products.

An acute consult is also an opportunity to be introduced to naturopathic treatment. Use the time to discuss your health and I will do my best to discuss what a clinic consult and program would entail.  If you decide to book in for a naturopathic clinic appointment the cost will be deducted from your first consult fee.

What to expect from a naturopathic clinic consult.

A naturopathic clinic consult allows the time to get to know you better, to understand YOUR why, and what is going on for you, why you have been experiencing those symptoms for a while.  Please see the clinic page for an understanding of all conditions treated and include such conditions as digestive bloating, chronic constipation, hormonal problems, chronic fatigue, weight that won’t budge.

Upon booking an appointment you will receive an email with questionnaires for you to complete prior to your appointment. Your first appointment will be 1 hour in clinic with your naturopath Renae.  The best course of action will be decided upon and is dependent on your health requirements. Follow-up appointments will be required to continue the healing process and the number and treatment medicines prescribed will be dependent upon your condition and state of health.
